OWH MWT - winter love cards

Hello there peeps!

I didn't think I was going to get to the OWH MWT challenge today (it's to make winter cards!) but I decided to clean my craft space for 15 minutes. Then I was crafting all of a sudden. I can't help it, I don't think. Clean = mojo for me. Oh well, go with the flow, right?? :)

So. I wouldn't normally go for a lot of yellow, but the yellow in this pretty snowflake paper from Crate Paper was begging for it.

Crate paper: Snow Day collection
Gina K dark chocolate; Bazzill pineapple bliss
Unity's Ippity sentiment; Twinery twine
Tim Holtz scattered straw, antique linen, walnut stain

So I embossed it, and then lightly rubbed my TH scattered scraw ink pad over the top. It really makes the embossing pop!  A little love sentiment, a little twine bow... and done!

Enjoy the rest of your week, friends!

OWH sketch 148 - aren't you super

Happy Sunday! It's the end to a long holiday weekend and I'm not terribly excited at the prospect of Monday. Are you? :/ Our family relaxed at the lake from Thursday on. It was nice... and snowy! The evergreens coated in snow are just one of nature's loveliest sights, I think!

It's sketch time over at the Operation Write Home blog, this is number 148. :) I like this sketch! My scrap pieces weren't quite the right size so I improvised with a background that peeks through here and there. This stamp set from Unity is great for kid cards!

Thanks for visiting me today! I hope you had a great holiday weekend with family and friends. :)

OWH VCMP challenge - sports

I had this card done for one of Cherie's challenges this past weekend, but I forgot to post it! OOPS!

She challenged us to make a sports-themed card. I don't really DO sports, but then I realized I have golfing stamps. Golfing-sport with a cart. :)

I did make a feminine golfing card, too, but it's somewhere buried in my craft space. I have got to DIG out tomorrow. Oh wait, tomorrow I am making more lunchbox notes for my 6 year old who says they make her so happy at lunchtime (cue melting mom). So Friday I will dig out. :)

More on the 6x6 paper pad...

Guess what? I was FAR from done using up that 6x6 MME all spice pad! Oh the scraps, but I wrangled 'em all! LOL

Believe it or not, some of the scrap cards I made are my favorites. Go figure, right? If you like these, stay tuned for a few more tomorrow that I'll be linking up for Unity Stamp Co.'s Friends with Flair. :)

Unity's FWF 8/24; Ippity Chicks sketch 43

Happy Friday! I hope your weekend is ready to kick off. For us, this is my husband's busiest time of year. We publish an independent phone book and the book has to go to the printer next week, so for now we see my husband only a few minutes each day. He does sleep, but I don't count that as quality time! It'll be September before we see much of him, but he's such an awesome guy. I think he'll appreciate finding this by his sink one morning. :)

Anyhow, I saw the new Chick Challenges sketch and I immediately knew what I wanted to do. In fact, I was tearing out this sheet of Crate Paper as I thought, "I should really dig through some more paper stacks..." nope. This card fell together in just a few minutes. I find that amazing - it sure doesn't happen often! LOL

Side note: does anyone recognize this sentiment? I thought it was Ippity but can't find the set name!

Ippity chicks sketch 42

Hey there! I had the idea for this card days ago but it has taken me a while to finish it! This card was made with my mother-in-law in mind. Her birthday is in october and she loves to sew and craft. I think she will like it!

This follows Ippity Chicks sketch 42 and it also fits with the OWH MWT challenge to use patterned paper and die cuts/punches (my buttons were punched):

OWH MWT - get your kraft on

Today I was convinced my daughters would nap, so I convinced them to lay down with me (I wanted to rest, too!) for 15 minutes. Three minutes in my 6 year old was snoring, but several minutes later my 2 year old poked me and told me she was done resting. SIGH! So I had some time to create; thank goodness for Elmo songs on Youtube. We had some hysterical giggles as Elmo rocked out. :)

I was thrilled to see a 'use kraft' challenge over at the Mid-week throwdown at OWH today. For the record, I ADORE kraft paper. Let the 50 or so sheets in my drawer speak to that - not hoarding, I use a LOT of it  - but I was so not inspired today. :/ Eh. It was just one of those days.

And now blogger is acting up for me. Thanks for visiting me today, friends!  --Jen

Ippity paint challenge

Confession: today I broke into the kid's art stash to complete a challenge card! I don't usually do that! The current Unity Opportunity challenge is to use paint on a card.

My daughters only had bright paints and 4 colors. I went with red and green and the green is a little bright for me, but I think I toned it down enough with the red. Maybe? We'll make this an anyhero Christmas note for Operation Write Home, as it's thick to mail with those buttons. :)

Unity FWF 7/13 and Ippity Chicks sketch 39

Hey there and happy Friday! For the first time in forever, it seems, I am not crazy busy trying to pack up and head for the lake and post a card in the middle of it. I'm not sure whether to be glad or bummed! LOL

There's a new Ippity Chicks sketch up over at the Ippity Chicks challenge blog. I really like this sketch!

My DH says this is an old lady card, so I asked why and he said he "doesn't like pastels."  Apparently he is hip and vibrant and active - his words, LOL! :) So,  friends, old lady card or no? :) You can be honest!

Ippity Chicks #38; OWH MWT

Is it seriously Wednesday already??? My oldest had tennis lessons during the month of June and I thought we were SO busy then, but I swear we've hardly been at home this week. My fingers are itching to create, LOL, so I have two challenge cards to share. :)

First up is the Ippity Chicks sketch challenge. OKAY, okay, I didn't quite follow the sketch. I tried. It's kind of close. Maybe?

MME Paris & Co dp

Then today, over at the OWH Stars & Stamps blog, there is "Christmas in July" challenge with making a cool card. I wanted this one to also work for the OWH Our Daily Bread Designs challenge for July (make a card in cool tones - blue/purple/green). This is bonus sketch 30, in case you had a burning desire to know. ;)

Unity FWF 6/29; Ippity Chicks sketch 37

Happy Friday!! I'm linking up my Ippity Chicks sketch #37 card to Unity's Friends with Flair as well. Be sure to hop back to the Unity blog here to join in on all the fun and see the gorgeous cards and projects that are uploaded today! And next best, you could win free Unity stamps. :)

MME On the Bright Side dp

Distress inks: walnut stain, brushed corduroy

I flipped the sketch to accommodate the owl - I just love that owl! I had chosen the MME paper (on the bright side) once I decided to use the owl. Barns, old wood, owls, twine... it all goes together, right? Well, that was the thought. :)

Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by to see me today,

Ippity Chicks sketch 36

Hey there! I'm sneaking in with a super short entry for the newest Ippity Chicks challenge sketch. This one stumped me at first until I spied these little kraft envelopes in my stash. Then, I nearly threw the card away (well, recycled the pieces anyhow), but now I really like it. So go figure. :)

Ippity's The Simple Things

I'm also linking this up for the Unity Opportunity blog challenge to use bright colors. Turquoise counts, right? ;)

Ippity Chicks #35

Hey! Just a quick card to share tonight - it's the Ippity Chicks sketch challenge #35. You can see the sketch here. I have to get a bit of crafty time in as tomorrow morning will be capitol-c crazy. Swim lesson, tennis lesson, story time... it all sounds fun but it's WORK for the mom! ;)

This card gave me a few fits. Why oh why can't sympathy cards be a little easier??

Happy Friday.... it's friends with flair Friday with Unity! Be sure to hop back to the Unity blog to see everyone's projects. I'm always so inspired by what everyone else creates. :)

Chick Challenges 33, OWH MWT

I usually play along with the Ippity Chicks challenge sketch, and I'm cutting this one close to the wire. I just didn't have a good idea for what I wanted to do, until I saw today's mid-week throw down challenge for Operation Write Home, which is to shower one of the founding OWH board members with cards.

I used the sketch to create this card that a hero could send home:
Ippity's Alpahbetically adorable
Echo Park summer days

And then I made this card for Dee, to encourage her. I hope she appreciates puns! :) This lady made THOUSANDS of cards for our heroes to write home on. She is most certainly a good egg!

Chick Challenges #32- time to par-tee!

Chick Challenges with {ippity}

So, June is crazy for me in the "gotta have cards" category. We have 9 birthdays or anniversaries this month, plus I have a couple of bridal showers and then wedding cards to make. ACK!!!!!

Anyhow, the new sketch from the Ippity challenge blog gave me an idea right away. LOVE that! My brother-in-law loves to golf, so I made him this:

Ippity's FORE! set; grass punch, PTI ripe avacado and Bazzill date swirl, walnut cream cs
TH ink in antique linen and SU old olive

Hope he likes it! Thanks for visiting me today!

OWH MWT - Pucker up, baby!

Hey all!

It's mid-week throwdown time over at the Stars & Stamps blog. The challenge this week is to make love cards, so I made two. The first one is totally not my style, but I think I did okay. I used the Chick Challenges sketch as well. :)

I couldn't fit the sentiment on the front, so I did the inside too:
Unity KOM stamps; Basic Grey hopscotch dp
Angel Pink momento ink; TH antique linen distress ink

And then I did this one, for fun. I glossy accented the lips. :)
Paper Smooches fruitastic, wake up sets

Unity FWF 5/11; Ippity Chicks sketch #30

Happy Friday! It is a gorgeous, sunny day here in Wisconsin. I'm hoping this means I can finally pack away the winter jammies and get out the shorts and sandals. I dug out my sparkly wedges this morning.  :)

I have a quick card to share. This is the new Ippity Chicks sketch for this week and I'm linking it up for FWF at Unity as well. This was a fun sketch - I dug out some gorgeous MME paper for this. *love*
