Drunken Stampers #128 - star wars

DS128

Hello there - happy Saturday!

Time for another Drunken Stampers challenge - this time we are on the Star Wars theme. I am not a Star Wars fan - sorry to those of you that are fans! However, I do have cute monkeys in space. And they have a cute story. :)

I make a lot of cards for Operation Write Home. My eldest daughter is in first grade at a small, Catholic school and her teacher's husband is currently serving overseas. We talked about making Anyhero notes or cards even before school began! Recently we took action and her class made Anyhero notes and they assembled some cute Cookie Monster cards that we could send as well... and well, the other teachers in the school wanted in too!  I knew the kindergarteners would have a much tougher time with coloring and assembly (i.e., the cards wouldn't be quality-worthy to send as notes to send home), so I had them create Anyhero notes with a cute kid twist.

They are colorful and bright and don't follow all the rules, but they are so sweet! Because, you know, we think the world of our nation's heroes. :)

Thanks for looking! Be sure to hop back to the Drunken Stampers blog to upload your own creation!

Drunken Stampers #126 - Braveheart challenge

DS126

Time for another movie inspiration challenge at the Drunken Stampers blog and the Bahama Mamas are up with Braveheart (gingham/plaid/tartan) pieces!!

I remember seeing this movie in my teenage years (am I dating myself? LOL). Oh, Mel Gibson..... :) I pulled out some gingham - I'm a big fan of it! - and went for a simple lovey-dovey card.

This is a new favorite sketch of mine (from Operation Write Home, it's number 164).  Thanks for coming over to see my creation; be sure to go back to the Drunken Stampers blog so you can see everyone else's inspiration piece and upload your own creation!

OWH MWT - thank you; end of April recap

I thought the forecast was for rain all day, but we ended up getting rain all night long - the grass is SO green now! - and today is 25 degrees cooler than yesterday, but pretty sunny. Which is a good thing, because I am very tired and it's keeping me awake. :)

I had cut a bunch of pieces from the last of this MME 6x6 pad using Sunday's sketch - it was a good one! - so I put a few pieces together to make a thank you for today's MWT challenge at OWH. I left the ribbon off; it just seemed better without.

And now all of you can tell me if it clearly needs ribbon, LOL!

Here's my end of April ATG recap: only 5! It was a busy month. And I have stacks of card kits here to assemble, so we'll see if I get to them THIS month. Sounds like mommy needs a card-making play date...

OWH sketch 170

You know what? Spring has FINALLY arrived. The past two days have been gloriously warm and sunny, I've even taken our beginning sprouts for our container garden outside to get some sun. It's amazing.  The girls played outside yesterday - and ate outside - 2 snacks and lunch - for about 6 hours until I told them they had to go in for supper and baths. No one wanted to go inside!

kraft paper, random gems
ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon

I had this ballerina cut and colored (I did add some sparkles to her crown; sealed with glossy accents!), so I just found some coordinating papers and ribbon and it all fell together easy peasy. I think this card took less than 5 minutes to put together. Now, the next card I make will likely take 2 hours... :)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

OWH MWT - time

Hello!

This week's Operation Write Home mid-week throwdown challenge is to use "time" as a theme. I have this OWH Hero Arts set and I love it; it's one of my most-often used sets. I did lose one of the sentiment stamps :( but I'm hoping it's floating around in a drawer and I haven't found it just yet!

This is sketch 159 with a slight adaptation. :)

WIWS; the importance of cami's edition

Happy Sunday!!

I recently discovered Stitchfix. I LOVE this dress that I got from my first fix, and I was thrilled when I tried it on that it covered without showing a lot of cleavage. So I took it along to Florida.... where the heat, or having it stretch as I wore it made me... show cleavage. I hadn't taken a cami along (dumb move, Jen, seriously dumb!) so I apologize to the good people at Disney on Easter. Note to self - trying to rearrange your dress all day is NOT fun.

So, we came home and I found a great little cami for 2.99. :)  We had a baptism of a good friend's baby this morning and we have a family party this afternoon... and I still love the dress. It just needs a safety net! :)

Dress, stichfix
Cardigan, Banna Republic
Camisole - thrifted
yellow/gold chain bracelet -thrifted
As usual, I'm liking up with the fine women at FLAP. :) I wish I could tell you it's spring here... but it snowed during the night and this morning. This was my backyard:
UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH.

Drunken Stampers challenge #124: Twilight

DS124

Hello there! Time for another Drunken Stampers challenge - this time the movie is Twilight (creatures of the night). I'm really not into the vampire thing - I've never read the books or seen the movie. Creatures of the night, though... well, I can do that. :)

I created a fun owl card for this challenge.

Jillibean Soup - homemade 6 bean soup paper
PTI ripe avocado card stock
owl stamp set from Ebay
Twinery twine

Be sure to head over to the Drunken Stampers blog for the rest of the DT inspiration and to upload your owl creation! (Freudian slip; that's what I actually typed instead of 'own'... and I'm going to leave it because it amuses me. So there. :))
