Unity Friends with Flair 4/1 edition, AKA Jen tries something new

I have a confession.

I've been afraid of my sewing machine. Yes, it's true. I've had it for.... five years now, I think. I am far from a great seamstress, but I can do a straight hem or even a zig zag stitch with few problems. Heck, I even made a dust cover for my Cuttlebug (tutorial here).

However, I've never stitched on a card. Why? I think I feared I might break the machine, which is rather ridiculous. It cost less than $100 and I've definately gotten my money's worth out of it by now (hello, curtains in the foyer, bathroom, kid's rooms, master bedroom as well as countless fixed hems and handmade blankets and toys).

On Splitcoaststampers (which has a great Unity forum!!) I have a 'secret sister' and we've challenged each other to step out of our comfort zones and try something new, so I did. Be gentle:

Paper: K&Company DP; solids from the scrap bin
Momento Ink in Rich Cocoa, BIC mark-its
Unity's KOM - Simple Life

Discoveries:
A) Stitching on a card is WAY easy
B) I'm totally going to stitch lots of cards from now on
C) I didn't break the machine. Go figure.

And then for fun, I have one more card. I wasn't going to sign up for FWF this week - it's been a crazy, emotional week - but I had a really CAS card in mind. This is again from the KOM Simple Life - I have been using these stamps so often the past couple of weeks - but I hadn't used these great birds yet, and then I found this ribbon and it all fell together.
CS: not sure
Offray ribbon
SU ruby red ink
Unity's KOM - Simple Life
SU ribbon slot punch

Thanks for looking! If you want to make sure you've seen all the FWF blogs (and try to find the blinkie!!!) make sure to visit the Unity blog.  And from there you can easily get your fix at the Unity store! :)

  7. These are so sweet, Jen! I'm happy you tried stitching on a card and loved it. I hope to see a lot more stitching on your cards from now on. Listen to me, someone who DOES stitch on cards but not very often. ;)
