OWH Memorial Day BLOGHOP!!!!
Monday's the day we Americans remember those who gave their lives fighting for our freedom. I'm proud to be an American, and so very, very grateful that we have heroes fighting for us.
Today's also the day we BLOGHOP for Operation Write Home, an organization that distributes handmade greeting cards to heroes serving overseas so they can write home to their loved ones. I'm proud to be a part of their organization!
Blog candy! Click to follow me and leave a comment telling me so - and I'll pick one winner to receive a cuttlebug cover, handmade by me! ;)
Here's my card:
Card recipe:
Unity stamps
Cuttlebug stars embossing folder
Nesties petite ovals, plain and scalloped
EK Success border punch
Continue next to Erica's blog!
Side note: I was researching a question my daughter had about Memorial Day and found this about flying the flag at half-staff only until noon that I did not know:
"On Memorial Day the flag is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day.[8]
The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all." Source here
Happy Memorial Day!
