Happy World Cardmaking Day! Be sure to go here for thumbnails and leave lots of comments!
Thanks for joining the Operation Write Home hop today! I'm so proud to support OWH. My Dad is a Vietnam vet and has always said that no matter what you think of your government's involvement in a war, is it your duty to support the troops - they are doing their jobs and just trying to make it back home to their families. From the very little he's said about his experiences coming home from Vietnam, I know that it wasn't easy. That makes me sad and angry; while there are many things I cannot do right now - as a mom of two little girls busy managing a household - but I can make cards so that our troops can keep in touch with home. Freedom is never free, and I'm thankful for each and every one of our heroes.
I have two cards because I couldn't chose which I liked the most:
I love the first as it's a very non-traditional color scheme for Christmas. The paper is from Basic Grey (the Jovial collection), which is just classy and totally FAB. It was $$$$ (IMO) but worth it! LOL The stamps are from Unity Stamp Co - Jillibean Christmas Eve Chowder (which are on sale now here!). The embossing folder is Sizzix evergreen, and I adore it.
The bottom card has some random Christmas DP - I have no clue where it's from, sorry. The sentiment is the same Unity stamp set as above, with some dollar store bling.
Leave a comment and tell me which is YOUR fave! Thanks for looking! :)
Jen
Such pretty cards!
ReplyDeleteBlack and white is a timeless colour for cards
ReplyDeleteI like the first one best. The background is classic, while the simple stamp compliments it. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white, so crisp and classic. And I have got to find that evergreen embossing!
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white one - the embossing is beautiful. Thank you for sharing :)

These are both nice Jen, but I particularly like how you used the half circle in the second one. Nice DPs on both of them and that embossing folder in going on my wish list!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards! Thanks for sharing. :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! I really like your layouts and that embossing folder is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are wonderful! The first is crisp and elegant. I just got that folder, now I have an idea of how to use it. The second is more artsy and I love it!

The black and white is elegant and classy. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe black and white is my fav just because the emossing really accents the images. I so need to get an embossing machine, but I have no extra room until I get more organized! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletegorgeous cards :)
ReplyDeleteI could never decide which card, both have aspects I love! The first has a wonderful color scheme - I love non-traditional colors for Christmas and I love black & white for anything! I really like the idea of a second paper inside a scallop circle like you did on the second! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat embossing folder is amazing! I love the black and white card. Such a deep embossed background!
ReplyDeleteThe first one is amazing! Thanks for supporting OWH and all our Heroes.

I like both, but the first one is my favorite. Love the paper, patterns, and colors. nicely elegant. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI like them both however I think think the top one is my favorite .. love the embossing and the simple trees on it
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing
Two beautiful cards!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love the first one. I have that folder and some black and white prints, so I might CASE it! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love the first one (my fav!) I like its unexpected color scheme and how it all comes together so nicely--it's beautiful!! I do like the half circle element of the second one, too. TFS
ReplyDeleteI was around when our men came home from Viet Nam and it was a disgrace that they didn't get the welcome and support they so richly deserved. Your Dad is absolutely right that whatever one thinks about war, these men and women deserve our respect and our support!
ReplyDeleteYou made two lovely cards, and I love the embossing!
Wow, hard choice in cards! I am a big fan of monochromatic cards so I guess I lean toward the first. Your father's philosophy is so right. Thanks for doing your part for the team!
ReplyDeleteThanks to your dad. I love the contrast in the first card. That embossing folder is terrific.
ReplyDeleteThese are both fabulous cards, Jen! I think it's hard to pick a favorite too, but I lean towards the classy elegant look of the first one. :)
ReplyDeleteI like them both, but my favorite would have to be the black and white one. Love the embossing folder too, :)
ReplyDeleteWOW!! I absolutely LOVE that embossing folder!! Must find!! I also love the non-traditional color scheme of the first card! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI read most of the comments and I am in agreement! Love the classy look of black & white (as I just sent daughter & 2 friends and son & girlfriend to homecoming and they are ALL in black and white) and the embossing folder is on MY list too! I do like the layered semi circle on the second one and the bit of bling!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are beautiful! The white embossed card just pops and is so elegant.
ReplyDeleteOooo, very pretty cards. :)
ReplyDeleteI like them both (the embossed backgrounds really make a great texture) but my FAVORITE is the classic black & white.
ReplyDeleteI like both, but I believe my vote goes to the second one. I just love the design!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! I love the elegant look of the first one. That is a great embossing folder!!
ReplyDeleteYour first card is gorgeous - love the black and white. My daddy was a Vietnam Vet too, and he is just now opening up about some of his experiences.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with OWH!
These cards are amazing!! I love the embossing - especially the trees!
ReplyDeleteI lived through the Vietnam era too, and I totally support your dad's advice. It was a sad time for everyone during that time and one we should never forget!
I love your cards! Oh my gosh I need to shop for new embossing folders! That one is so cute!
ReplyDeleteBoth are great, although I really like the 2nd one. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd as a military wife, let me say thank you for sending your hard work to those who could use a pick me up.
Hi! I love the design and texture of both of your beautiful cards and am particularly inspired by the black & white card. Great work!!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are great, Jen, but I think the second one is my favorite - I love the big half circle and the touches of blue!
ReplyDeleteYour first card is my favorite but I like both cards. I like your use of embossing.
