OWH TT - more trees

Kate over at OWH is the coolest for her Tuesday Tutorials. I mean, seriously. I've now learned four or five different ways to assemble a Christmas tree out of paper and they all look pretty freaking amazing!!

I struggled with this card. I LOVE this paper by Basic Grey, but it is not traditioanlly Christmas-y and it stumps me.

Black is embossed with my Sizzix evergreen folder. The trees are both scraps from the Basic Grey Jovial collection (trees are at 2" and 3") and mounted on dimensionals. They defied any sort of bling or embellishment I tried to put on.

Edited - thank you, Allison! Using scraps to make tree trunks is perfect. I tried the ribbon but it looked weird.

NOW I really like it. You all rock! :) And now you should go make a card, submit it here, and we can admire your card too! :)

  2. Jen, I love the BG paper and the contrast with the dark background. Maybe what it's missing are tree trunks? Could you add tree trunks from pieces of the BG paper?

It was an amazing tutorial, wasn't it? Who knew there were so many ways to make trees on cards! Now, if I could just find some time to make them. I may be skipping right over the Christmas cards for OWH this year and moving on to general and then Valentine's Day. Maybe I'll start to make Christmas cards even earlier next year, like in the middle of the summer when I'm not teaching!!!

  3. Love the paper and embossing. Maybe you would like it better if you grounded the tree shapes with a bow like Sandy did. Just a thought.

  4. Love those colors! I think it's fine to have trees that aren't Christmassy. Thanks for plugging the tut!
