OWH MWT - getting crafty

The challenge over at the Stars & Stamps blog this week is to make something with a crafty thing that Santa brought, if you were so lucky to be on the nice list! :) Turns out that I was, in fact, on the nice list! I got this new Itty Bitty from Unity Stamp Co and honestly, I've inked it up several times in the last week! LOVE it.

I think this makes a nice encouragement card for a teen boy. Yes?

I even used this week's sketch challenge! :)

I'm on a spending freeze for the first part of the year... (see my sidebar). I've challenged myself to make 100 cards before I buy anything crafty. Lord help me should I run out of adhesive... but I think I'll be okay! Any encouragement is welcome, or should I say... PLEASE encourage me! I have a list going of things I want/need after I can buy already! On the upside, I am USING STUFF UP like nobody's business. Scrap bin, you have met your match!

  1. What a fabulous card jen, I love that diagonal plaid paper and how you've used the OWH sketch too, nice!

I hear you about the spending freeze, we get so busy "collecting" that we forget what we've collected and don't use it :)

Thanks for playing in our Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps!

  2. Great card. I love the colors and how you used the same paper for the horizontal stripes. I'm also on a spending freeze. I have so much paper it's overwhelming!

  3. Ohhhh, I like your spending freeze idea! I should do that, too. It might help me to use up all the paper I've been hoarding, ooops, I mean storing for years! :-)

    Cute card, too!

  4. Using up the paper crafting items we all own is a great idea! I think about it, then find myself in my LSS and discover a little something I "must have". Thanks for the reminder and good luck. The goal you have set of making 100 cards is awesome.

  6. Good for you to turn to your scrap bin before buying new! I got several gift cards for Christmas and I know I'll be buying some new goodies soon, but I'm passing on the DP for at least a year! I have enough to open my own store, so good luck with your resolution!
Your card is great with the DP you chose, and I love the sentiment too!

  7. Great job on this card - the combination of papers you used is really striking. I can see why it's a favorite! I'm also on a spending freeze. Here's a quote I hung in my craft room: "It's not HOW MUCH you have, it's HOW MUCH you enjoy it." So dig into those long lost LOVELY stashes of supplies and have some fun!

  9. This is beautiful Jen and proof that you don't need any supplies to create truly fabulous cards! I'm doing the same thing as you... and started working just from current stash last fall and at first it was tough but not so hard in the long run and you rediscover some really beautiful things you bought long ago too. Good luck!

  10. Way to go Jen! I need to seriously get rid of some stuff myself. I have never been a very good "diet buddy" - I am forever disappointing the ladies in the office where I work with my lack of willpower. . . But maybe this is a challenge I could stick to... I will resolve to use up supplies with you! At least that way, I will have room to add more supplies, later on! Yay! Great card, I know that my boys would love it... Way to go!
